Youth for Peace - 100 Years after World War I, 100 Ideas for Peace
Are you interested in Europe, history and peace? Do you want to learn more about World War I and its consequences? Do you want to know how other societies experienced the war and how you can personally contribute to a peaceful future in and around Europe?
To commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War, the Franco-German Youth Office (FGYO), along with partners, is organising an International Youth Meeting in Berlin. The event will bring together 500 young people from across Europe and beyond to discuss topics such as war, peace and history in an international setting. It will take place from Wednesday 14 November – Sunday 18 November, 2018
As a partner organisation, UK-German Connection are recruiting a group of 18-22 year olds from the UK to attend this youth event.
What is the International Youth Meeting about?
The youth gathering in November 2018 will provide young people with the space and opportunity to discuss the First World War's lessons for peaceful coexistance, on a European and international level.
Highlights of the meeting include:
- Creative workshops and activities about peace education
- The opportunity to experience alternative city tours, a film and football night, and excursions to places of remembrance and memorials in Berlin
- Meeting new young people and learning what your peers in other countries - from across Europe and beyond - think of the topics of war and peace
Who can apply?
You can apply if you:
- are aged 18-22 (regardless of what you are doing - student, apprentice, young professional, intern!)
- are interested in the topic of the First World War, and in discussing this with your peers from other countries
