Youth Conference: 'Young Voices' - Acting on our Shared Future

Are you passionate about the arts, with a particular interest in drama? Are you interested in discovering the local cultures of both the UK and Germany, and using drama to explore what similarities unite these two countries and their young people?

Applications for the youth conference are now closed

As part of our wider event Youth Conference: ‘Young Voices’, we are looking to recruit a small group of talented and motivated young people to take part in drama workshops and activities!

Discover your own local culture & identity, and consider differences and similarities with participants from both the UK & Germany. Learn and develop your drama skills through thematic, expert-led workshops. Meet like-minded young people from both countries and take part in drama workshops together!

What is the Youth Conference: ‘Young Voices’ about?

UK-German Connection is holding a Youth Conference in Berlin from 14 – 16 December 2018 to celebrate our 2018 activities, and to begin thinking ahead to future 2019 projects and activities.

As part of this youth conference, we are recruiting around 20 participants from the UK & Germany with an interest in drama to take part in workshops on the theme ‘Acting on our shared future’, where they will explore key themes of local culture and heritage through drama and help us to plan future creative UK-German activities.

Activities will include:

  • Expert-led creative theatre workshops around the themes of ‘Finding Foundations’ & ‘Building Bridges’

  • Discussions & design workshops about how we can incorporate creative & performing arts into future UK-German events

  • Excursions to Berlin Christmas Markets

UK-German Connection will cover all costs, including flights, local and domestic travel and full board and lodging. There is no participant contribution for this event, however participants are expected to cover incidental costs (including snacks while traveling, pocket money for excursions etc.)

Participants will book their own travel to London (see below) in order to travel to and from Berlin with the whole UK group. UK-German Connection will provide participants with a travel bursary to cover all reasonable travel costs. Further details of this will be provided following selection of participants.

Travel and Accommodation

The UK group will travel out together from London Heathrow to Berlin in the early afternoon of 14 December and return on a group flight in the afternoon of 16 December. Please note that no individual travel arrangements to and from Berlin are possible. The German participants will join the UK group in Berlin. All participants and group leaders will stay together in a youth hostel in central Berlin.
