In March 2003, 28 Year 4 children at Reay Primary School in London flew to Germany to meet 30 children at Waldeschule, near Cologne.

Children from both schools had been learning to play the Gamelan. The Gamelan is a set of Indonesian percussion instruments, including gongs.

In Germany, they got to know each other and made friends. Then, they played a concert together!

The children from the UK even learnt a little German before they set off. They learnt to say hello and goodbye and how to order something to eat.

One boy said before the trip: "I am looking forward to it because we are going to a different country and its not everyday you get to go Germany."
