In autumn 2004, 25 children from Dovedale School in Liverpool flew all the way to Germany to meet children from Scharnebeck primary school.
The trip was very exciting! The British children all wore their school uniforms - much to the surprise of the Germans. In Germany, you are allowed to wear what you like.
In the afternoons, the children did lots of amazing things together. They went to Hamburg and took part in a lantern parade. The last day was particularly exciting: The pupils organised a football match. In the evening there was a big disco.
The children all got on really well. One pupil said: "At the end I was so tired, but I didn't want to go as I had made so many friends."
I got up at 3:00 am and came to the airport. We got on the plane and when we got there, we went on a tour to Berlin and to see Checkpoint Charlie. Then we went to the zoo. Seeing all the animals was great. We had some food and came home to the hostel. We unpacked and went to bed.
The best part of the day was the zoo, because it was exiting and fun.

Today we went to Scharnebeck School. It was cool, but different. I made some new friends. The first lesson we had was games and then we had English, which was strange, even though we were in Germany. Then we saw the Mayor of Scharnebeck - how cool! Afterwards we went to a salt factory and then we went swimming.
The best part of the day was going to school, because we met new friends.

After breakfast we went to Scharnebeck School and watched a puppet show. There were two parts and I liked the second one best. My favourite character was Kaspar. Later we went to the market which sold fruit, vegetables and flowers. Then we went to visit Hamburg's stadium. I enjoyed it a lot and liked seeing the pitch from the different angles.
The best part of the day was Hamburg, because I have never been to a football stadium before.

I woke up exited and got myself ready. Then we had the football tournament and got into the finals. I hit the winning goal and we won the cup!
In the afternoon we sang a song in the church and then went to a Saint Martin's parade, where we got punch and bread. Then we went into the disco and it was cool. I was sad, when the Germans left. Afterwards we saw the Shrek movie on DVD.
The best part of the day was the footy tournament, because I scored the winning penalty.
