Six primary pupils from Keldmarsh Primary School went on a voyage to the Humboldtschule in Bremerhaven.

Being in Germany didn't mean some days off from school. The kids from Keldmarsh attended the German school every day and took part in the normal lessons. These included German, Maths, Science and Dance.

I expected that going on German Exchange would be scary because I would be away from home and I hoped that my exchange partner and her family would look after me.

I knew that I would miss my family while I was away, but I also thought the trip would be a fantastic new experience and one that I would remember for the rest of my life.

Children at Humboldtschule move classrooms for different lessons. It's great fun! They also have different teachers for different lessons!

The children were given a lot more independence, as they were allowed to walk home on their own and spent time at home alone.
