Easter is a really exciting time for kids in Germany!

On Easter Sunday, many children go on an Eiersuche (Easter egg hunt). The goal is to find as many hidden Easter eggs as possible.

If the weather is nice, the Easter bunny hides the eggs outside in their garden or a park. If it is too cold, the egg hunt is held inside.

Sometimes, the one with the most eggs even gets a prize!

On Easter Sunday, it is also a tradition to bake cakes in the shape of a lamb or rabbit and to offer it to family and friends who come to visit.

The kids decorate the little lambs with Gummibärchen (gummi bears), Smarties and other sweets.

Osterbrunnen

Children in southern Germany often decorate village wells with Easter eggs, flowers and ribbons. The decorated wells are called Osterbrunnen ('Easter wells').
