The Black ForestOne of the most famous holiday destinations in Germany is the Black Forest or 'Schwarzwald'. The Black Forest is located near the borders of France and Switzerland in southern Germany.
This area has mountains with thick forests of dark fir and spruce trees. It's also famous for its delicious Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Black Forest gateau) - a rich cake with cherries, cream and lots of chocolate!
