Are you interested in working as an intern with UK-German Connection? This page will provide you with further information on location, dates, and the structure of the internship.
Places are currently available from the end of October 2017.
Where would the internship be based?
You would be working with the team at the UK-German Connection office in Belgrave Square, London. The office is about 5 minutes from Hyde Park Corner and Victoria tube stations.
How long does the internship last?
The length of the internship is flexible. However, the majority tend to be 6 weeks long. Please note that we are generally unable to offer internships for longer than 8 weeks. The shortest possible internship would be for 4 weeks.
What are the working hours?
Your standard hours would be Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 4pm but we would also be happy to discuss the option of slightly different working hours and days.
Who would I be working with?
There are six members of staff based full- and part-time at our Belgrave Square office and the environment is very friendly and supportive. During your time with us, you would have a dedicated manager who would work closely with you but you would also work with everyone in the team in order to get first-hand experience of all aspects of our work.
What type of tasks would I do as an intern?
We would try and ensure that your responsibilities were as varied as possible and would take into account specific areas and skills you would like to develop. Your tasks could range from assisting with the organisation of events, supporting the development of our website, attending conferences and meetings as well as helping with general office administration. Your timetable would however ultimately depend on what our main projects were at the time of your internship.
Who can apply?
We would welcome an application from anyone who is over 18 and can demonstrate a real interest in our work and more generally the education sector or the field of UK-German youth relations. Successful applicants will be flexible and reliable with strong team-working and communication skills. Intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel and the internet is also expected. Our working language is English, however all applicants should have a good knowledge of both English and German.
How do I apply?
To apply, please send a CV and cover letter (in English), outlining why you would like to work as an intern with us as well as the dates you would like to work, by post to:
Director, UK-German Connection
34 Belgrave Square
Can you pay me or support with costs during the internship?
Unfortunately we are not able to pay you for the internship or support any general accommodation or travel costs. We would however, pay for any travel undertaken as part of your work (eg to meetings or events) and also offer a contribution of up to 50% of your local transport costs.
If you have any other questions or would like any additional information, please call or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org / +44 (0)20 7824 1570.
