Welcome to the new UK-German Connection service!
UK-German Connection - bringing young people together is dedicated to increasing contacts and understanding between young people in the UK and Germany. Adopting an 'umbrella' role, we are closely linked with the key organisations in both countries and provide a hotline for all UK-German youth and school linking activities.
This information service has been created by merging the activities of the German Links Adviser with 'the-voyage'.
We are here to help you with…
- information on opportunities, programmes and grants for youth and school links between the UK and Germany
- advice and support with initiating, establishing and developing links and activities involving UK and German partners
- case studies and examples of best practice from existing youth and school links
- links to relevant institutions, bodies, associations and documents.
Contact us…
- to discuss your ideas for UK-German projects and new ways of connecting with Germany
- to tell us about your activities with a view to getting them published on the British-German youth portal
- to find out about new UK-German thematic networks
- to find out how you can get involved.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for more information, or if you wish to share feedback of any kind.

Background
During the state visit to Germany by Queen Elizabeth II from 2 to 4 November 2004, Federal Minister Fischer and Foreign Secretary Straw launched an initiative aimed at strengthening bilateral youth links. They appointed an independent official from each Foreign Ministry who submitted a joint report on the state of youth contacts between the two countries outlining recommendations on a joint action programme. On 4 July 2005, the two Foreign Ministers, Jack Straw and Joschka Fischer, announced some immediate measures to enhance UK-German youth contacts, which included the creation of UK-German Connection, the enhancement of the voyage website and the establishment of a youth project fund.
For further details, please refer to the joint press release of the two Foreign Ministers (PDF).
