The deadline for this programme has now passed and we are no longer accepting applications.
Give your primary pupils the chance to experience Germany's Christmas culture in a real-life setting! This four-day visit will give them the chance to meet German children of the same age and get involved in seasonal intercultural activities.
As part of this programme, a group of primary pupils from the UK travel to Germany with their teachers, as well as 'mentors' from a nearby secondary school to meet their German peers, learn some new German words and get a taste of Christmas in Germany.
Pupils follow a full-time programme of activities during the trip, including:
• a visit to a German primary school, where the children share Christmas traditions, sing Christmas carols and work on a mini-project together
• visiting historical and cultural sites
• visits to the Christmas markets
• Christmas craft workshops in a youth centre for learning and creativity
Option 1: Visit to Berlin organised and run by UK-German Connection
Working together with a school in Berlin, the visit forms the basis on which to build a school partnership and continue joint activity long after the visit. The visit takes place in the run-up to Christmas. To find out more and apply for the visit, please read the programme guidelines and fill in the application form (see Files to download list on the right of this page).
This option offers primary schools the chance to run their own Christmas trip to Germany as above, as part of a visit to their partner school. UK-German Connection will provide schools with a framework, including comprehensive planning guidelines, and documentation, as well as financial support for the trip.
If you're a primary school with a partner school in Germany and would like to find out more about this project, please read the programme guidelines and fill in the application form for option 2 (see Files to download list on the right of this page).
